#SonSPT2023

The National Science on Stage Festival 2023 (selection event for the International Science on Stage Festival 2024) took place at AE Frei Gonçalo de Azevedo, São Domingos de Rana, Cascais, on November 4th and 5th, 2023, organized by NUCLIO and Science on Stage Portugal.

The opening session was led by Rosa Doran (President of NUCLIO) and Isabel Borges (Coordinator of Science on Stage Portugal) and featured the participation of David Sousa (Director of the Frei Gonçalo de Azevedo School), Ana Luísa Santos (Head of the Secondary Education Division, representing the Directorate-General for Education), David Featonby (Vice-chair of Science on Stage Europe), and Rute Oliveira (teacher from  Nobel Algarve British International School – selected by Science on Stage Europe to participate in SonS 2024 with a Joint Project).

At the festival, 26 projects created by teachers from various regions of our country were showcased. The quality of the projects reflected the participants’ hard work and dedication, as they employed innovative methodologies based on inquiry-based approaches.

Alongside the festival, the Accredited Training Event on Best Practices in Science Education 2023 took place, which included workshops related to the European projects D.O.M.E., CliC-PoLiT, and SYNAPSES. Over 30 teachers took part in this training.

On Sunday, November 5th, the festival fair was open in the morning to teachers and students from the schools in the region.

The festival jury (composed of Ana Costa, David Featonby, Isabel Borges, Leonor Cabral, Liliana Fernandes, Nuno Charneca, Paula Furtado, Rute Oliveira, and Teresa Paiva) selected seven projects that will represent our country at the European Science on Stage Festival 2024, taking place from August 12th to 15th, 2024, in Turku, Finland.

The selected projects are as follows:
