PLATON was a two-year European project, coordinated by NUCLIO, which started in September 2016. It was co-funded by the ERASMUS + K2 program.
The project was designed following the work done on the Big Ideas of Science and Inquiry Learning by project partners during the Go-Lab European project.
PLATON aimed to develop content promoting a holistic interdisciplinary teaching approach. In the framework of this project, materials were produced to support the use of student-centred methodologies and that at the same time promote collaboration between school subjects. PLATON included the use of digital tools and resources and hands-on content.
Teacher training sessions were held to implement the project, and opportunities were also created for collaboration between teachers (nationally and internationally).
In Portugal, the project had the support of the Ministry of Education and was widely implemented, with certified teacher training.
