The D.O.M.E. (Design your Own Multimedia learning Environment) project was designed for teachers and students who want to bring an immersive science experience to their school and community. Students are invited to become atists, scientists, engineers and storytellers in an inspiring experience that includes building a low-cost planetarium system and developing presentations that will engage the local community and allow them to benefit from the planetarium and its associated resources.
The Planetarium
The project is currently maintained as an initiative of NUCLIO that supports participants in creating cardboard planetariums and in the training of teachers and/or students, providing a toolkit to support the creation of presentations. The planetarium developed by the students will stay at the school and will provide a non-formal environment for education, allowing for interdisciplinary collaborations between teachers and students.
