Open Discovery Space was created with the aim of serving as an accelerator of the sharing, adoption, usage, and re-purposing of the already rich existing educational content base. The project built a community-oriented social platform where teachers, pupils and parents can discover, acquire, discuss and adapt eLearning resources on their topics of interest.

During its pilot phase, the project reached over 2500 schools 12,000 and teachers across Europe

Among other activities, the Open Discovery Space held sessions – the Visionary Workshops – which brought together scientists, teachers, and other professionals in the field of science education.

Starting in April 2012 and partially funded by the European Commission, Open Discovery Space had the partnership of NUCLIO and the Galileo Teachers Training Program (GTTP).
